Enriching the Future of Local Communities by Supporting the Next Generation
Educational Support Initiatives by Brother International Corporation (Argentina)
Since an economic crisis, Argentina has been on a path to recovery from economic instability; however, severe inflation and rising prices have led to increased poverty and income disparity. Amid these challenging circumstances, Brother International Corporation De Argentina S.R.L.,. (BIC Argentina) has launched initiatives to support children's education and daily lives with the aim of contributing to the future of local communities.
Supporting Children, Shaping the Future

Argentina, a world-leading agricultural and livestock country, has continued to face economic instability since the 2001 economic crisis, and it also suffered significant blows from the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2020s and the droughts of 2023–24. Moreover, rapid inflation and rising prices have exacerbated poverty and income inequality. Poverty issues are particularly concentrated among children and youth, denying many children access to adequate support for their education. In the belief that children will be key players in shaping the nation’s future, BIC Argentina supports their education and welfare in pursuit of its own ways to contribute to local communities.
“Back to School” Initiative: Supporting Quality Education

High inflation and economic uncertainty have impacted education at home and in schools. Rising prices of daily necessities, coupled with poverty and limited education budgets, have made it difficult for many families and some schools to secure stationery and educational materials. In response, Brother employees launched the “Back to School” initiative, visiting schools and donating school supplies and printers.
Ramón Biaus, located 190 km from Buenos Aires, is a rural community facing population decline and a fragile economy reliant on agriculture, resulting in difficulty in securing essential goods[AS1.1]. BIC Argentina employees visited the only kindergarten, elementary school, and junior high school in the area to provide stationery sets to children and conduct hands-on learning activities using Brother’s sublimation printers and P-touch labelers. They also visited Somos Familia, a local organization in Buenos Aires that provides daily meals to about 60 children and families living in extreme poverty, and donated stationery sets to 52 children, as well as interacting and enjoying recreational activities together with the families. The Brother printers donated to each school and organization have since been supporting educational activities by enabling the printing of materials for classes and events.
Handmade with Care: Cushions Created with Brother Technology

Located near the BIC Argentina office, a foster care facility named “Hogar del Pilar” provides a safe place for girls from economically disadvantaged families who cannot receive adequate care at home and live far from schools, allowing them to continue their education. Foster care facilities in Argentina often lack necessary resources and rely on support from companies and other organizations. BIC Argentina has decided to support these facilities by gifting handmade cushions with each child’s name. Not only practically useful but also comforting, these soft cushions fit in even with the children’s small rooms. The company added each child’s name using Brother technology in the hope that the cushions would become their own personal treasures.
A sewing workshop was held with the participation of all employees to create the gifts. Using sewing machines, they sewed 21 cushions and cut heat transfer vinyl with ScanNCut to decorate each cushion not only with the intended owner’s name but also with cute designs and encouraging messages.
Children’s Joy Connects Our Hopes for the Future

The presentation ceremony took place the month after Argentina’s Día de las Infancias (Children’s Day). BIC Argentina employees visited the facility to present the cushions, which were received with great delight by both the children and the staff. In addition, the employees told the children that learning to use a sewing machine could one day help them start their own business. A Brother printer was also donated to the facility and is now used for the children’s homework and various facility operations.
In Argentina, where economic uncertainty has persisted for years, children represent the nation’s future and hope. BIC Argentina has launched these initiatives in the belief that supporting these children is the greatest contribution it can make to local communities. The company has received letters and social media video messages of gratitude from the places visited, and both the company and the support recipients look forward to next year’s visit. Donations of stationery and educational support activities using Brother products in Argentina will continue.
SDG 4 “Quality Education” includes the target of ensuring that all children complete quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes (excerpted from 4.1). Brother is committed not only to donating school supplies and engaging with children from economically disadvantaged families and communities through employee participation but also to leveraging its products to support children’s welfare and hands-on learning activities. Through these efforts, Brother will continue to contribute to improving local educational environments and achieving the SDGs.
